Martyrs’ Day is also called Shaheed Diwas
Every year March 23 is observed as Martyrs' Day
It is observed to commemorate the sacrifices given by freedom fighters and other people to gain independence from British rule.
Martyrs Day is also observed on January 30 when Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1947.
Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivram Rajguru were sentenced to death for killing assistant police superintendent John Saunders.
To honour their sacrifice, who lost their lives during India's struggle for independence from British rule, Martyrs Day is observed on March 23 every year.
