SSC CGL 2026 Recruitment: 30.66 Lakh Apply for 12,256 Posts, Sectional Timing Introduced

Over 30.66 lakh candidates have applied nationwide.

Recruitment will fill 12,256 Central Government vacancies.

More than 7 lakh candidates applied from Bihar alone.

Around 250 candidates are competing for every post.

Application correction window is open from July 1 to July 7.

SSC has introduced sectional timing in Tier-1 for the first time.

Tier-1 has 100 questions divided into 4 timed sections.

Each section has 25 questions with a 15-minute time limit.

Tier-2 will also have subject-wise fixed time limits.

Tier-1 is expected in August–September 2026; Tier-2 in December 2026.

Final selection will be based on Tier-2 performance and post preference.
