The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts NET on behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC)

It determines the eligibility for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ in Indian universities and colleges.

NET is conducted in 84 subjects in English & Hindi only

UGC-NET is conducted twice every year.

The Examination shall be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only for 2 Papers.

Paper I: 100M for 50Q on teaching/ research aptitude, reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness

Paper II: 200M for 100Q from subject selected by the candidate

Exam Duration: 03 hours (180 minutes)

The candidates qualifying only for Assistant Professorship are not to be considered for the awarding of JRF.
