CBSE has opened online applications for private candidates appearing in the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2027.

Eligible candidates can submit the application without a late fee from October 8 to October 23, 2026.

Students declared Essential Repeat or placed in Compartment in the 2026 board exams can apply as private candidates.

Candidates declared Fail or Essential Repeat in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 can also register.

Students who passed in 2026 can apply to improve their performance in one or more subjects.

Students who received a 2026 roll number but could not appear for medical reasons may also apply, subject to CBSE rules.

The application must be submitted online through CBSE’s private candidate section using a valid email ID for OTP verification.

Candidates appearing in 2026 will have their details auto-generated, while earlier candidates must enter their roll number and year of passing.

A ₹2,000 late fee applies for applications submitted from October 24 to October 30, 2026; additional-subject fees vary by country.

Fees must be paid online through internet banking, UPI, debit card or credit card; offline applications and payments are not accepted.

Choose the examination city carefully because the allotted centre cannot be changed; CBSE will conduct the 2027 exams in February, March and April.
