Education Initiatives Under PM Modi: NEP 2020, PM SHRI, Scholarships & More

NEP 2020: The National Education Policy introduced a broad roadmap for reforming school and higher education, with focus on skills, critical thinking and experiential learning.

Flexible Higher Education: NEP 2020 also promoted initiatives such as the Academic Bank of Credits and multiple entry-exit options for greater flexibility in higher education.

PM SHRI Schools: The government aims to transform more than 14,500 existing government schools into model PM SHRI schools aligned with NEP 2020.

Modern School Facilities: PM SHRI schools focus on better infrastructure, digital facilities, sports, arts and development of 21st-century skills.

Samagra Shiksha: This integrated school education programme covers students from pre-school to Class 12, with emphasis on access, equity, learning outcomes and teacher education.

PM POSHAN: The school nutrition scheme aims to improve children's nutritional status while supporting regular attendance and better classroom concentration.

PM e-VIDYA: The digital education initiative combines online learning with television, radio and other platforms to expand access to educational content.

DIKSHA: The digital learning platform supports students and teachers with educational resources, courses and technology-enabled learning.

PM-YASASVI: The umbrella scholarship scheme supports OBC, EBC and DNT students through scholarships, top-class education and hostel-related assistance.

Scholarship Support: In 2025-26, around 1.09 crore scholarships were provided for post-matric and higher education, covering SC, ST, OBC, EBC and DNT students.

PM Research Fellowship: The PMRF initiative provides financial support to talented students pursuing advanced research in leading institutions.

Teacher Training: The Malaviya Mission for Teachers Training focuses on strengthening faculty development and improving the quality of higher education teaching.

PM-Vidyalaxmi: The scheme provides eligible students access to collateral-free, guarantor-free education loans, along with interest subsidy and credit guarantee support.

Education Focus: These initiatives span school education, nutrition, scholarships, digital learning, teacher training, research and higher-education financing.
