CA Exam Age Limit & Eligibility in India: Foundation, Intermediate and Final

CA Exams in India: Know the age limit and eligibility before you begin your Chartered Accountancy journey.

Good news for aspirants: ICAI does not prescribe an upper age limit for the CA course.

CA Foundation: Students can provisionally register after passing Class 10, but must clear Class 12 to appear for the Foundation exam.

CA Foundation exam eligibility requires candidates to have appeared in the Class 12 or equivalent senior secondary examination.

There is no maximum age restriction for registering or appearing in the CA Foundation examination.

CA Intermediate: Candidates can enter through the Foundation route or through Direct Entry after meeting the prescribed graduation criteria.

Direct Entry is available to eligible Commerce graduates/postgraduates with at least 55% marks and other graduates/postgraduates with at least 60%.

Candidates who have passed the Intermediate-level examination of ICSI or ICMAI can also enter CA Intermediate through Direct Entry.

CA Final: Candidates must complete the required Intermediate-level requirements and other ICAI conditions before appearing for the Final examination.

Age is not the main barrier—meeting the educational, registration, examination and training requirements is what matters.

Whether you are a school student, graduate or working professional, you can pursue CA if you meet ICAI's applicable eligibility requirements.

Before applying, always check the latest ICAI examination notification and eligibility rules for your specific attempt.
