Student Credit Card Scheme Extended Till 2030-31: ₹4 Lakh Loan, ₹950 Crore Approved

Education Loan Up to ₹4 Lakh — Eligible students can continue to access education loans of up to ₹4 lakh under the extended scheme.

₹950 Crore Approved — The Bihar government has approved ₹950 crore for the scheme during the current financial year.

4.15 Lakh Students Already Benefited — Around 4.15 lakh students have received financial assistance for higher education through the scheme so far.

Support for Higher Studies — The extension is aimed at helping more students overcome financial barriers and pursue further education.

300 Private BEd Colleges to Get a New Role — The government has approved a proposal to develop 300 standalone private BEd institutions as multidisciplinary degree colleges.

More Subjects Can Be Offered — Eligible institutions may offer undergraduate programmes in arts, science and commerce alongside BEd courses.

Skill-Based Courses Also Possible — The proposed multidisciplinary institutions will also be able to introduce suitable skill-based programmes.

Approvals Will Be Mandatory — Institutions adding new programmes must meet prescribed requirements and obtain approvals from the relevant authorities.

UGC, NCTE & University Approvals — New courses will require applicable approvals from universities, UGC, NCTE and the Bihar government.

Private ITI Admission Process Changed — Admissions to 50% of sanctioned seats in private ITIs will now be conducted through the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board.

Three Major Education Decisions — The measures aim to expand higher-education financing, strengthen multidisciplinary education and bring a new admission system to private ITIs in Bihar.
