PM SHRI Schools 2026: 13,092 Schools Selected Across India; Check State-Wise Numbers
The government informed the Rajya Sabha that 13,092 PM SHRI schools have been selected nationwide.
The PM SHRI scheme was approved by the Union Cabinet in September 2022.
Funding under the centrally sponsored scheme began from the 2023–24 financial year.
Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of PM SHRI schools with 1,888 selected.
Andhra Pradesh (982), Maharashtra (946), Madhya Pradesh (944), and Bihar (904) are among the top states.
Odisha has 840 PM SHRI schools, Telangana 832, and Karnataka 660.
The scheme aims to transform existing government schools into modern model institutions.
PM SHRI schools focus on implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The initiative targets upgrading more than 14,500 government schools across India.
