National Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies: Get financial support for your first PG degree in India.

The UGC-run scholarship supports meritorious students pursuing postgraduate studies.

Around 10,000 scholarships are awarded every year under the scheme.

30% of scholarships are reserved for girl students to promote women’s higher education.

Selected students receive ₹15,000 per month for 10 months in an academic year.

This amounts to ₹1.5 lakh per year, with support available for up to two years.

Applicants must have a recognised undergraduate degree and be enrolled in the first year of a full-time PG course.

Only students pursuing their first postgraduate degree can apply; the age limit is below 30 years.

Selection is based on all-India merit, primarily using graduation marks, with reservations as per government norms.

Visit scholarships.gov.in, register through the NSP’s One-Time Registration (OTR) and log in to apply.

Select the PG scholarship scheme, enter course and bank details, upload documents and submit before the deadline.

Ensure your institution verifies the application; second-year students must apply for renewal through the NSP portal.
