FMG Stipend 2026: Foreign Medical Graduates to Get ₹21,840 Monthly

The new stipend applies to foreign medical graduates completing mandatory internships at government and GMERS medical colleges in Gujarat.

The decision is expected to benefit around 350 foreign medical graduates undergoing internships across the state.

The ₹21,840 monthly stipend brings financial support for foreign-trained medical graduates in line with eligible Indian MBBS interns.

Under NMC rules, foreign medical graduates must complete a one-year compulsory internship in India before becoming eligible to practise medicine.

The new provision applies to FMGs allotted internship positions through the Gujarat Medical Council between June 1 and October 1.

Eligible interns must also meet all applicable National Medical Commission (NMC) requirements to receive the stipend.

The stipend will cover interns working at government and Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) colleges.

The policy aims to provide consistent financial support to foreign-trained medical graduates during their mandatory internship in Gujarat.

FMGs should check the latest Gujarat Health Department, Gujarat Medical Council and NMC requirements for applicable eligibility and internship conditions.
