CSIR Senior Research Fellowship 2026: Eligibility, Last Date, Application Process

CSIR has invited applications for the Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) programme for eligible researchers in science, engineering and medicine.

The fellowship is designed for researchers with relevant academic qualifications and prior research experience.

Research Experience: Applicants must have at least 2 years of research experience to be considered for the fellowship.

Publication Requirement: Candidates should have at least one research paper published in a refereed journal.

Educational Qualification: Applicants must hold a qualification in a STEM field, including Science, Engineering or Medicine.

Age Limit: Candidates should generally be below 32 years of age, with applicable age relaxation as per rules.

Last Date: Eligible candidates must complete the CSIR SRF 2026 application process by September 17, 2026.

Who Can Apply? Only bona fide Indian citizens residing in India are eligible for the fellowship programme.

Fellowship Tenure: The initial SRF-Direct tenure is 2 years, with possible extension to a third year based on progress and expert recommendations.

Where Can Researchers Work? The fellowship may be pursued at universities, IITs, national laboratories, CSIR institutions and recognised R&D organisations.
