Bank Holidays September 2026: Banks Closed Up to 15 Days, State-Wise List
September brings several bank holidays due to Sundays, Saturdays and regional festivals.
There are 6 regular weekend closures: four Sundays and the second & fourth Saturdays.
September 4: Banks will remain closed in several states for Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
eptember 11: Bank branches in Jaipur will remain closed due to municipal corporation elections.
September 12: The second Saturday is a regular bank holiday; Assam also observes Srimanta Sankardeva Tithi.
September 14: Banks in selected states will close for Ganesh Chaturthi and other regional festivals.
September 15: Banks will remain closed in Gujarat, Odisha and Goa for regional celebrations.
September 21: Regional bank holidays apply in Assam and Kerala for local observances.
September 22: Banks in Jharkhand will remain closed for Karma Puja.
September 23: Bank branches in Jammu and Kashmir will be closed for Maharaja Hari Singh Jayanti.
September 25: Banks in Sikkim will remain closed for the Indra Jatra festival.
September 26 & 27: The fourth Saturday and Sunday will bring two more regular bank closures.
Bank holidays mainly affect branches; UPI, mobile banking, internet banking and ATMs generally continue to work.
