NASA Engineer’s Side Hustle: How She Turned ₹19,000 into ₹30 Lakh a Month
Eryn Andrews started a voice-over side hustle with a simple goal: earn an extra $200, or about ₹19,000, each month.
After becoming a single mother in 2022, she invested about $200 in training, a microphone and basic recording equipment.
With no professional voice-over experience, Andrews joined Fiverr and accepted smaller projects to build her portfolio and credibility.
Her plan worked quickly—she earned around $1,000 from voice-over projects in her very first month.
By day, Andrews works at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, helping study astronaut performance and movement in spacesuits.
By night, her guest-bedroom closet becomes a recording studio, with mattress toppers helping reduce outside noise.
Her voice-over work includes corporate announcements, voicemail systems and training videos for organisations and major brands.
Clients have included Coca-Cola, PetSmart and the University of Mississippi, helping her side business grow rapidly.
Her voice-over income eventually surpassed her six-figure NASA salary in the summer of 2025.
In 2026, she had already earned more than $227,000 from voice-over work, with monthly income exceeding $32,000—or over ₹30 lakh.
Andrews used the extra income for travel, a Toyota RAV4 and college savings for her daughter—turning a small side hustle into financial freedom.
